Suparna Qanungo, PhD

Dr. Suparna Qanungo, PhD., is an Associate Professor in the College of Nursing, Medical University of South Carolina (MUSC). She is the Director of Global Health at the College and has also previously served as the Director for Telehealth Research Program at MUSC Center for Telehealth. Dr. Qanungo is a public health researcher with interest in global health and reducing disparities in care.  Her focus is to develop and implement interventions for underserved communities and patients with serious illnesses (cancer, dementia), to improve their health outcomes, access to care and quality of life, locally, and globally.  Dr. Qanungo teaches in the PhD and the DNP programs. She mentors Ph.D. dissertations, inter-professional students, fellows and is dedicated to expand students learning to develop the next generation of healthcare providers. She serves on multiple leadership roles in the College, the University and in community organizations and boards. She has extensive collaboration with academic and clinical partners internationally. She is honored to be awarded the MUSC Values in Action award for Collaboration. As the Chair of the Shifa Clinic board for the past 3 years, Dr. Qanungo is very much committed to the success of the organization.
