Staff Dr. Moxley

MICHAEL MOXLEY, MD

OB/GYN PROVIDER

Dr. Moxley has more than 30 years experience in healthcare and is a fierce advocate for patients of underserved communities. He is coming to RSFH from Virginia Hospital Center in Arlington, Va., where for seven years he steered the OB/GYN department and its physician group. He also joined with Georgetown University in efforts to increase student and resident diversity while also working to eliminate health disparities among patients.

Dr. Moxley will partner with our boards, leaders, physicians and teammates in identifying, recommending and promoting inclusive diversity strategies while also seeing patients as an OB/GYN doctor. Dr. Moxley will oversee Community Health — our community-facing programs such as AccessHealth Tricounty Network, Senior Services, Ryan White Wellness Center, Greer Transitions Clinic and RSFH’s Community Outreach — as well as guide the system’s Diversity and Inclusion Council.

Prior to his tenure at Virginia Hospital Center, Dr. Moxley served as the associate dean for Diversity and Medical Education for the University of Virginia School of Medicine in Charlottesville, Va. There, he helped underrepresented minority students become more competitive for medical schools across the country. He was also instrumental in UVA’s Summer Medical Dental Education program, which is one of the nation’s leading medical school preparatory programs for minority students and those with disadvantaged backgrounds.

Dr. Moxley attended the University of Virginia in Charlottesville, Va., for both undergraduate and medical school. He went on to complete his residency in the Department of Obstetrics and Gynecology at Strong Memorial Hospital in Rochester, NY.

Dr. Moxley possesses an incredible passion for diversity and inclusion, and he’s shared that he feels honored and excited to champion health equity and access for all patients in every corner of our growing and thriving market.

He will live in Mount Pleasant with his wife, Mary.
