Our Program Components

Our Food as Medicine initiative combines nutrition education, healthy food access, preventive healthcare, and community engagement to support healthier lifestyles and reduce the risk of chronic disease. Through interactive learning opportunities, practical resources, and culturally responsive programming, we empower individuals and families with the knowledge, skills, and support needed to make informed health decisions and improve overall well-being.

Bringing Healthcare, Nutrition, and Wellness Into the Community

Our Food as Medicine initiative extends beyond the clinic walls through community health screenings, healthy food distribution, culturally tailored wellness education, and outreach events designed to meet families where they are. By combining prevention, education, and access, we help build healthier communities one interaction at a time.

Where Nutrition Meets Prevention

Our community health fairs provide free preventive screenings to help individuals identify potential health concerns before they become serious. Screenings may include diabetes risk assessments, Blood glucose and HgA1c screenings, blood pressure checks, anemia testing, vision screenings, and other wellness evaluations.

Participants with abnormal results receive education, personalized guidance, and referrals to Shifa Free Clinic for further evaluation and ongoing care. By connecting community members to healthcare services early, we help improve access to care, support chronic disease prevention, and promote healthier outcomes for individuals and families.
