Is this the face you see when you think of homelessness? Unfortunately, this is reality. The average age of a homeless person is 9, in Illinois. DCFS had intervened in the face of domestic violence. Following the parents divorce, the mother and children found themselves homeless and on the streets. This family of 4 children, all under the age of 13, and their mother could live on the streets or move into a shelter. When a local masjid learned of their situation, at a local shelter, they directed them to ICNA Relief. Their trauma cannot even be imagined.
ICNA Relief is helping the mother find work and learn English. We will provide mentors and tailored case management services including driving lessons, a car, counseling, transport to and from the library and more.
HOW CAN YOU HELP?
Supporting a family of 5 financially is no easy task. $65/night can help provide this family, and other shelter residents like them, with transport, clothing, personal care products and other living expenses. Will you help us? Can these kids count on your donation at icnarelief.org? Please choose transitional shelter.
