Zakat, Mortgage
Salamualaikum
we rahmut Allah I have a question about my zakat. Do I owe anything
on either of the two cars that I have driven in the past year? The
first car was an automobile that I was financing to own, but I sold
it. The second car I just recently leased for 39 months and put
$1700 down payment on the car. That $1700 had been in my bank for
several months but not for the whole year. JazzackumAllahukharun
we salamualaikum.
Did anyone tell
you hat you have to pay zakat on your automobile? You do not have
to pay zakat on car for your personal use.

Zakat, Mortgage
Assalamualaikum, I have a mortgage and therefore I am in debt. Persons
who are in debt do not have to pay zakat as I understand it. Does
my mortgage exclude me from having to pay zakat? I live in US. Jazakallah.
It does not
make a difference whether you live in USA or Pakistan. If you are
in debt to the extent that the debt diminishes or covers the nisab,
you can pay Zakat.
Zaka
payment on real property
Is
zakah to be paid on a second piece of property whether it be for
investment purpose or built in homeland for relative to live in
or when visiting for ones self? If so, is it on the market value
or cost?
Dear brother:
You don't pay zakah on a house you build to live in. But if it is
built for investment, then you have to pay zakah on the rent you
collect once it reaches nisab.
Zakat payment on real property used for business

on precious stones like diamond. many thanks.
Dear brother:
If you are doing business with them you have to pay zakah, otherwise
no.
Giving
Zakat to relatives
Assalam-o-Allaikum,
I have a question about Zakat. My Parents are alive Masha-Allah
and I have a brother who is 24 years old. My brother is still not
financially independent. He has left his studies and is just surviving
on some odd jobs and support from the parents and family. My parents
have been supporting him financially for a long time and now he
lives by himself in Canada. It is a big burden on my parents to
support him at this point. My question is that can I give Zakat
to my brother while our Parents are alive and technically speaking
they could still support him but at this stage in their life it
is financially very tough for them. I do help them in this case
but can I give specifically Zakat money to him. I realize you cannot
give Zakat to your Parents. Jazak-Allah,
Assalamu alaykum
Yes, Islamically speaking, you can give zakat to your relatives,
biological brothers and sisters if they are in state of need. You
will get two rewards, one for giving the zakah and the second one
for being kind and considerate to your kinfolks.

I
am requesting information about zakat as I am very confused, reasons
are as follows: My husband has student loan of about one hundred
thousand I recently purchased a house have mortgage on it but have
some decent amount saved in savings and few funds and stocks plz
infrom me on what items is zakat necessary. I also have gold in
the bank that is sitting there. Kindly inform me. allah hafiz.
You have to
pay zakah on the money you have in the bank as well as the stocks.
Your husband's debts and the house you bought do not prevent you
from paying zakah. Indeed, you should subtract the amount you spend
for the upkeep and maintenance of the house, as well as the installment
payments you are making. If the gold you have in the bank is not
for your personal use, then you have to pay zakah on it. Also if
you have a real estate that you are renting out, and any other investments,
you have to pay zakah on them.
